What has gone out

Nothing yet. A receipt is queued when a bill settles and the guest on it has an email address; a confirmation is queued when a booking is confirmed.

What gets sent

Only two things

A receipt, once a bill is settled

Only when the bill is fully paid and the guest on it has an address. A receipt for a part payment says a meal is paid for when it is not.

A confirmation, when a booking is confirmed

With the reference somebody needs to change it. A table held for a guest who cannot come is a table somebody else wanted.

Both are deduplicated on the thing they are about, so a retried payment or a double-tapped confirm produces one message and not two. Marketing is a separate matter and needs an opt-in on the guest record — a receipt does not, because somebody who declined a newsletter is still owed their bill.

Do not contact

Suppress an address

Stops everything to this address, now and later, and drops whatever is already queued to it. Kept apart from the guest record on purpose: erasing a guest destroys their details, and the one instruction that has to survive that is “never contact this address again”.
